Talk Topic: “Three Questions: On Leading with Purpose” by Sheila Lirio Marcelo
As women and leaders in the workplace, we can and must write our own stories so we can lead authentically and with purpose. How? By asking ourselves three key questions: Who, What and How? Who has influenced you? What impact do you want to have on the world? And, How do you stand by what you stand for?
Talk Topic: “How to Monetize Online Marketplaces” by Dominique Baillet
Yes, it’s all about growth. But at some point, you’ve got to make money. Successful marketplaces figure out how to monetize early and set up their marketplace dynamics accordingly – even if they don’t optimize making money until later. In this talk, we will cover how to think about what you give away and what you charge for, how you charge, and who pays.
Talk Topic: “The Art and Science of Matching” by Abbey Stauffer
Let’s face it… having lots of choices is great, but having too many choices can be overwhelming. Matching helps connect the buyers in your marketplace to the supply that best meets the criteria they’re looking for. Matching challenges exist everywhere, from organ transplants and college admissions to hiring marketplaces like Care.com. In this talk, we’ll discuss how you can leverage data science and other strategies to take the work out of your users’ hands in finding the right match.
Talk Topic: “Building Trust in Online Marketplaces” by Lauren Lee
If you want your users to convert faster and stay longer, then you need to invest in trust building mechanisms. It’s a critical ingredient for all businesses because it gives users the confidence to buy your product – and it’s especially critical for marketplace businesses when you don’t know the person on the other side of the transaction. In this talk, we’ll walk through some of the common mechanisms that marketplaces use to build trust.
