Bloomberg Women in Technology (BWIT), an employee-led resource group, has supported women and non-binary engineers at Bloomberg since 2014. This fireside chat between a BWIT founder and a leader in the recently-formed BWIT Allyship community will provide a candid view of what it takes to launch, grow, and sustain the impact of these communities.
“How to Find Your Dream Job in Tech” by Alexandra Dobkin, Software Engineer – BQuant Financial Libraries
Dobs’ first two jobs featured work environments that didn’t feel inclusive or trusting. She feared it was the workplace norm and that she’d have to learn to live with it. Then she found her dream job by accident. But you don’t have to if you apply her “10 Questions I Wish I Would’ve Asked Before Taking the Job.” She’ll share a copy of the questionnaire and the stories behind them. Key questions include:
- How does the company treat its customers/clients/end users?
- What is the company’s commitment to health and wellness?
- What is the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion?
- What impact does the company have in the industry it serves, and how does this translate into the impact you will be making in this role?
- What career path options are available beyond the job you are accepting?
