Oakland Public School Volunteer Opportunity: Back To School Support
Volunteer with the Girl Geek X community to help a local Oakland high school prepare for reopening by redoing bulletin boards, organizing supplies, weeding the garden, arranging classrooms, etc at Girl Geek X’s adopted school CCPA in Oakland, California on Friday, August 6th, 2021 (1pm-4pm).

We’re excited to support public education. In-person volunteers are required to pre-register and submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination card and sign a COVID-19 liability waiver. We will be volunteering in service of students grades 6-12 and their teachers at Coliseum College Prep Academy.
In-person volunteers are required to pre-register and submit proof of COVID-19 vaccine ahead of service date with the Oakland Ed Fund, a non-profit connecting groups with schools to make a positive impact on school culture and student achievement through relevant and meaningful volunteer projects.
Our partnership’s goal is to support students interested in STEM at Coliseum College Prep Academy in Oakland, California serving students in grades 6-12 with a computer science career pathway.

Girl Geek X is a community that has grown to 40,000+ women in tech over a decade from Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners. At Girl Geek X events, women share thought leadership in STEM expertise, as well as career advice in the fast-paced tech industry – hosting over 250 dinners at over 150 tech companies and startups across the San Francisco Bay Area – and globally we host annual virtual conferences. Girl Geek X events feature women at the mic sharing industry knowledge and career advice, for the retention and recruitment of mid-level / senior women in tech – a critical lever to increase the ratio of female CEOs, executives, engineers, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
