Oakland Public School Volunteer: Back To School Support

We are excited to support public education! We will be volunteering this pandemic school year in service of students grades 6-12 and their teachers at Coliseum College Prep Academy.
In-person volunteers are required to pre-register and submit proof of COVID-19 vaccine ahead of service date with the Oakland Ed Fund, a non-profit connecting groups with schools to make a positive impact on school culture and student achievement through relevant and meaningful volunteer projects.
Our partnership’s goal is to support students interested in STEM at Coliseum College Prep Academy in Oakland, California serving students in grades 6-12 with a computer science career pathway.

Girl Geek X volunteers must pre-register with the Oakland Public Education Fund:
- In the “More About You” section, it says “Choose the Option that Best Describes You”. Volunteers should select “Adopt an Oakland School Partner”
- Once you click that, another question pops up asking “Where do you work / where are you affiliated?”. Volunteers should write “Girl Geek X”

From refreshing bulletin boards to hand-lettering signs for the classroom, Girl Geek X community volunteers pitched in to lend a land to CCPA staff and teachers getting ready for school reopening in August 2021.

Girl Geek X is a community that has grown to 40,000+ women in tech over a decade from Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners.
