Oakland Public School Volunteer: Project Feedback

Call for Volunteers! The goal is to provide high school seniors with feedback on their capstone projects (apps/websites) on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, 4:30pm – 6pm at CCPA in East Oakland. Sign up here to volunteer!

Students will be sharing preliminary ideas around the websites and apps that they are building for their senior capstone project, and gathering feedback.

Volunteers will listen and provide feedback to students on how to improve their senior projects, which are due in May. When people from industry come in, it raises the stakes and feels more impactful for the students. The more, the merrier!

If this is your first time volunteering with Oakland Public Education Fund, please submit your COVID-19 vaccination info in *Step 1* – click on “Register to volunteer here” with Girl Geek X.
Scroll down to *Step 2* under volunteer activity “GIRL GEEK X + CCPA Senior Winter Expo Night (In-Person)” and click on the “sign up” link to register.

This partnership is facilitated by Oakland Public Education Fund, a non-profit connecting groups with schools to make a positive impact on school culture and student achievement through relevant and meaningful volunteer projects. This year so far, Girl Geek X community volunteered with back-to-school prep and participated in a career panel.

Girl Geek X adopted Coliseum College Prep Academy (details) for the ’21-’22 school year to provide valuable experiences for the Girl Geek X volunteers to engage with the local school community in Oakland, CA.

CCPA has the highest college-going rate in the district despite being located in one of Oakland’s highest poverty neighborhoods.

Directions to School: CCPA is located on the Havenscourt Campus at the corner of 66th and International in Oakland. The address is 1390 66th Ave., Oakland, CA 94621. The school entrance is on the CORNER of 66th Ave and International. You will need to buzz in, due to security, and let the front office know that you are here for the Senior Winter Expo Night with Claudia Walker.

COVID Protocols: Please make sure to wear a mask at all times. The one exception would be drinking or eating outside. If you have any Covid like symptoms or have potentially been exposed, please stay home.

Parking Suggestions: We recommend that you park in the alley between the baseball field and our small parking lot on 66th Ave. You are welcome to park on the school side of the buildings/fences BUT NOT the side of the fields. Street parking on 66th is also available.
