Call for Volunteers! The goal is to provide high school seniors with support of their capstone projects in East Oakland.
Final high school senior project presentations take place Tuesday, April 26 and Wednesday, April 27 from 4-6 PM at CCPA in East Oakland. There will be a total of 12 groups being split between two days. Students will be able to present for 20-30 minutes per presentation. The school invites VOLUNTEERS interested in attending and providing feedback. The students voiced that they enjoyed having professional feedback and this is the perfect opportunity!
This partnership is facilitated by Oakland Public Education Fund, a non-profit connecting groups with schools to make a positive impact on school culture and student achievement through relevant and meaningful volunteer projects. This year so far, Girl Geek X community volunteered with back-to-school prep, participated in a career panel and gave capstone project feedback.
Girl Geek X adopted Coliseum College Prep Academy (details) for the ’21-’22 school year to provide valuable experiences for the Girl Geek X volunteers to engage with the local school community in Oakland, CA.
CCPA has the highest college-going rate in the district despite being located in one of Oakland’s highest poverty neighborhoods.
