Oakland Public School Volunteer: Girl Geek X CCPA School – Student Project Feedback
For the 2022-2023 school year, Girl Geek X will be volunteering in service of public school students and educators at Coliseum College Prep Academy (CCPA) in East Oakland. The school entrance is on the corner of 66th Ave and International Blvd. (map) When you arrive at CCPA, please head to the auditorium. There will be 2 rotations for student groups to present and receive feedback on their project ideas.
On Wednesday, December 14, 2022 (5:30pm-7pm), CCPA educators and students will be joined by Girl Geek X community volunteers to receive professional feedback on Senior Capstone Projects – schedule below:
In-person volunteers are required to register here and submit proof of vaccine ahead of service date with the Oakland Public Education Fund, a non-profit connecting groups with schools to make a positive impact on school culture and student achievement through relevant and meaningful volunteer projects. Under “Choose the Option that Best Describes You,” mark “Adopt an Oakland School Partner”.
Volunteers will give students crucial feedback on their projects – by asking leading questions on everything from research methodology, scope, problem statement, theory for change, tech-related innovation, etc.
The high school seniors will take feedback on their problem statement, etc – and have a theory for change and make a tech-related innovation to help solve the problem. If volunteers are interested, they may continue to virtually or IRL mentor teams 2x a month until the senior capstone projects are due in late April.
CCPA has the highest college-going rate in the district despite being located in one of Oakland’s highest poverty neighborhoods.
Our goal is to support students at Coliseum College Prep Academy (CCPA) in Oakland, CA by partnering on a variety of volunteer activities throughout the school year — from STEM and career topics, to field trips, mentorship & more!
