“Making the case for the work you want to do” by Priya Nakra, Product Manager
Especially in the land of startups, companies frequently have gaps they don’t even realize they need to fill. Hear from Priya about how she’s moved between different functions at Blend to find her niche, and how she has made the case for the different roles she’s wanted to pursue. She’ll also fill you in on how her work has changed throughout her time here and highlight her favorite projects along the way.
“Finding your niche by identifying your strengths” by Ashley McIntyre, Sales Engineering Manager
Ashley will share her own experience and some tips to answer the age old question of how to figure out your career when you don’t know what you want to be “when you grow up.” Many Engineering and CS majors don’t realize there are avenues other than traditional engineering roles you can take with your degree and it’s easy to get bogged down trying to find a role that both excites you and grows your career. Ashley will talk through how she found her home in sales engineering by identifying her strengths and combining some of her core skill sets to solve tough problems throughout her career.
“How thoughtful design can drive collaboration throughout company stages” by Eunice Noh, Product Design Lead
Eunice joined Blend early on and has seen many stages of the company’s growth and evolution. Hear her perspective on the role design has played in the success of companies and products throughout her career, and how what it means to be a designer changes as companies grow. Eunice will also share a look at how design functions at Blend, walking through what a general project might look like in terms of timeline and collaboration with other stakeholders.
“Taking action to create a more balanced workforce” by Crystal Sumner, Head of Legal & Compliance
Crystal sees that while there’s been a lot of progress in recent years, there is still work to be done to advance women and under-represented minorities in the workforce. She’ll share experiences and lessons from her law career, giving advice on how to find companies and colleagues that care about changing the narrative, and how she strives to use her position to make a positive impact.
Laney Erokan, Blend’s employee experience lead, will be emceeing an unforgettable evening.
Blend is looking forward to hosting a Girl Geek Dinner at its headquarters in San Francisco’s financial district on Wednesday, March 6th from 6pm to 9pm! Speakers will tell inspiring stories from many different points throughout their careers, centered on key moments of standing strong or making decisions that would go on to have serious effects down that road.
