Shirley leads Product Science at 23andMe, the team responsible for developing scientifically valid, user-friendly, and innovative health features to help people better understand and benefit from their genetic information. Over the last 8 years, Shirley has built a high performing, resilient, and more or less autonomous team – borne out during her recent 4-month maternity leave. Shirley studied Computational Biology at Brown University and earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics from Stanford. Previously a competitive Ultimate Frisbee player, you’re now more likely to find her running around after her kids, baking a mean olallieberry pie, or singing with the 23andMe Chromotones.
