Evelyn Bayes

Evelyn is the APAC Support Engineering manager at Confluent which covers developer support and major incident response for both Confluents Cloud and On-Prem customers. Prior to joining Confluent Evelyn worked as an Operations Engineer at Instaclustr supporting Apache Cassandra, Spark and other Open Source Big Data projects. A graduate of the Australian National University, Evelyn holds a Bachelor of Finance and a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies but educated herself in Software Engineering after being introduced to it in a final year elective. Coming Out at Work by Evelyn Bayes, Support Engineering Manager

Coming out is generally associated with a queer experience, however, we all come out at various points in our lives. Whether it’s LGBTQ status, mental health issues, family problems, or any number of experiences with perceived negative association. In this talk, Evelyn will share her many experiences of coming out, the benefits of living an open life, and some helpful strategies to achieve it.
