Dr. Shabnam Ghaffarzadegan received her Ph.D. in 2016 from the Department of Electrical Engineering at University of Texas at Dallas, the Center for Robust Speech Systems. In December 2016, she joined Bosch Research and Technology Center in Sunnyvale, CA as Research Scientist. Her research interests include the areas of human-machine collaborations, relating to audio, language and cognitive processing which leverage audio/language technology with machine learning concepts.

"Human Machine Interaction (HMI)" by Bosch Research Scientists Shabnam Ghaffarzadegan and Panpan Xu
In this talk, Dr. Panpan Xu (Lead Research Scientist) and Dr. Shabnam Ghaffarzadegan (Research Scientist) will give an overview about our human machine collaboration research at Bosch. On the one hand, we use AI to augment and extend human’s compatibilities. On the other hand, we also try to leverage human intelligence to address the existing weakness of AI. Our research topics include Conversational AI, Big Data Visual Analytics, Language and Audio Analytics, Robotics, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, and Smart Wearables. Our mission is to develop intuitive, interactive and intelligent technologies and solutions to enable an inspiring user experience for Bosch products and services. We will highlight some of our research topics and discuss how they are applied to Bosch business areas.
