Janine is an Engineering Manager at Turnitin. She leads a team that develops the main Perl platform for the Turnitin website. Her job involves a lot of work around how to modernize an old codebase while continuing to support the existing customers. She came to Turnitin in 2014 as a Senior Software Engineer, after working at other companies that ran Perl web platforms. She became a manager a year later, and she continues to write code as well as lead a small team.
