On Thursday, January 18th, 2018 in San Francisco — Indeed’s Women in Tech (WIT) invites you to join them for a set of lightning talks that include topics on Security Engineering, Mentorship, Site Reliability, Quality Assurance, Product, and Design!

The Women in Tech group will host five speakers to present on their inspirations, their challenges, and how they can help you learn from their experiences in this industry.

Whether you’re looking to grow personally or professionally, these presentations are meant to demonstrate the ways women can succeed in tech. All speakers, and other Indeed WIT members, will be available after the presentations for a meet-and-greet to answer any and all of your questions — and to hand out some pretty cool Indeed swag. We hope to see you there!

Indeed Girl Geek Speaker Bios:

Kim WilliamsKim Williams, Indeed Director of Experience Design

Kim is Director of Experience Design at Indeed. She leads a team of copywriters, brand strategists, user researchers, interaction and visual designers, as well as illustrators defining Indeed’s product experiences. She oversees the core search experience, native apps, design and brand systems, helping Indeed craft experiences that show up in the lives of job seekers and employers in a meaningful way. Prior to Indeed, she led brand systems at eBay, was a creative director for Ogilvy’s largest global brand, and produced data visualization software, immersive games, and products for the public and private sector. When Kim’s not nerding out on color theory, she’s hopping around the city with her husband and precocious toddler for playdates and adventures.

Samikshya PatraSamikshya Patra, Indeed Engineering Manager

Samikshya is a Quality Assurance Engineering Manager at Indeed, where she uses a combination of efficient processes and tools to help hundreds of millions of job seekers daily. With over 8 years of experience as a Quality Assurance professional in banking, industrial automation and other fields, she uses her wide range of experience to create best practices for her team. She is passionate about quality at all levels of software development, and eager to explore new ways for teams to improve quality with Agile methodologies.

Janie Clarke, Indeed Product ManagerJanie Clarke

Janie is a Product Manager at Indeed. She helps tens of thousands of job seekers get hired every day with customized job alert emails. Prior to moving into Product Management, she worked as an Engineer in a wide variety of industries from online marketing to embedded linux and has also been an Engineering Manager. In her spare time, Janie enjoys travel, ballet and live music.

Jessi Roesner, Indeed Site Reliability EngineerJessi Roesner

Jessi is a Site Reliability Engineer at Indeed. She is passionate about developing engineering solutions that optimize large-scale, business-critical systems. Before becoming an SRE, she worked for 6 years as a software engineer on a variety of Indeed products including the core job search data pipeline and Indeed’s data science infrastructure. In her current role, Jessi works to improve the reliability and scalability of Indeed’s notifications platform, which sends over 100 million emails and push notifications to job seekers every day.

Ashley Graves, Indeed Security EngineerAshley Graves

Ashley is a Security Engineer at Indeed, where she is a three-year veteran in the Indeed Security Team. She focuses on software-as-a-service security, tool development and automation, and general security awareness at Indeed. Ashley is interested in solving complex technical issues, particularly those with political or social components. When she isn’t inspiring her coworkers to take personal stake in security, she likes do spend time with her cats Meredith and Princess, eat food, and play video games. Meredith and Princess enjoy joining her in these activities, despite their relative lack of video game skills.

Shirley XiaoShirley Xiao, Indeed User Experience Designer

Shirley is a UX Designer on the Design Systems team at Indeed. She is currently helping to establish the new component library for Indeed’s ever-evolving design team. She spends most of her time thinking about visual foundations, consistency, and convergence. Prior to Indeed, she worked in a broad range of industries including fin tech, real estate, baby and interpretation/translation. She is passionate about all things design, and believes that beauty lives in the details. In her spare time, Shirley loves learning new languages. Ask her about her digital nomad experience in Kyoto, Japan!
