Speaker Bios:

Sarah OhleSarah Ohle, VP, Marketing Insights, GroundTruth
Sarah leads the Insights and Growth Marketing team at GroundTruth, using the power of real-world, location-based data to understand consumers, create market-leading content, and empower brands and agencies with actionable insights to enhance their business. Before joining GroundTruth, Sarah was Director of Custom Research for Nielsen’s Telecom Practice Group, where she was responsible for designing and executing proprietary research studies for Nielsen’s technology and media clients. Her career has spanned over 15 years in marketing, research, and analytics including roles at Palm/HP, T-Mobile, and a leading telecom measurement startup, Telephia. Sarah holds a Bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Sarah will be giving an intro to the location ad space and GroundTruth.

Carol ChenCarol Chen, Senior Director, Software Engineering, GroundTruth
Carol is GroundTruth’s Senior Director of Software Engineering for its Applications team. In her current role, Carol is responsible for scaling GroundTruth’s campaign management suite while developing new capabilities that drive value for customers. Prior to joining GroundTruth, she served as Senior Director of Engineering at Rockyou, where she led game development for the largest game studio. Carol has over 13 years of experience in software development and of those, seven years managing interdisciplinary engineering teams. She has worked in multiple different spaces including e-commerce, gaming, and ad tech. Carol holds a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from San Jose State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. She is passionate about encouraging females to pursue education in the STEM field and increasing women representation in the tech space. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family.

Talk Topic: “Keep Learning & Growing” by Carol Chen
Today, the average person changes jobs ten to fifteen times during his or her career. Many people spend five years or less in every job, so they devote more time and energy transitioning from one job to another. What can you do as a fresh grad or new hire to quickly adapt to the new working environment and excel? Only 27 percent of college grads have a job related to their major. What are the things one need to consider for making the decision to make a career switch. We will discuss some of the ideas that can help cope with these situations.

Lauren StephensonLauren Stephenson, Associate Director, Human Resource Business Partner, GroundTruth
Lauren has labeled herself a ‘Professional Rebel’. Her mission is to bring forth an innovative and creative approach within Human Resources which seeks to put the focus back into the company’s most important asset – it’s people. She is currently the Associate Director, HRBP at GroundTruth contributing her knowledge and expertise around Strategic Performance Management and Organizational Development while overseeing HR Operations. Prior to joining GroundTruth, she worked in the agency space, developing HR strategy across various agencies including Hearts & Science and Assembly. An avid travel bug and foodie, she enjoys traveling around the world with her partner while stumbling upon the many experiences life can offer!

As the generations move from x, y to z and HR strives to position itself as trusted advisor and business partner, strategic performance management is a must. In this talk, Lauren will discuss what it means to ‘Define Your Playbook’ shifting approach to talent management from that of reactive to proactive, and uninspiring to innovational!

Shanshan TuoShanshan Tuo, Senior Data Scientist, GroundTruth
Shanshan is a Senior Data Scientist at GroundTruth. She is apart of a team working on various projects involving Location Service, Home/Office Detection, and Audience Segments, to help improve user-targeting efficiency and accuracy. She has worked at GroundTruth for over 5 years, starting back when the company was branded under the name xAd. She started as a summer intern and joined full-time after graduating from Stanford University with a PhD in Genetics and MS in Biomedical Informatics. Because of her seamless interdisciplinary background in Biology and Computer Science, she has great passion for bringing mindfulness into workplace and advocating for optimal physical and emotional health.

Talk Topic: “A Mindful Data Scientist” by Shanshan Tuo
It’s the world of Mobile Big Data, isn’t it? Just think about how much time you spent on your phone every day. By mining your location data on where you have been and where you are now, we can predict and influence where you want to be. In this talk, we will cover how we do location intelligence here. As a bonus, we’ll also share techniques on how to release stress and live more mindfully.

Alicia HuangAlicia Huang, Senior Product Manager, GroundTruth
Alicia is one of GroundTruth’s Senior Product Managers, heading the performance of the core recommendation engine. Prior to GroundTruth, she was Associate Consultant at McKinsey, where she worked with industry leading companies in areas such as market entry strategy and eCommerce strategy. Prior to moving to the United States, Alicia worked as a Senior Product Manager for two of China’s leading tech companies, Tencent and Baidu. During her time at Tencent and Baidu, she generated an accumulated $160M revenue through product innovation, strategy development, and growth partnerships. Alicia passion lies in career development and education. She volunteers as a coach to women interested in pursuing career path in both tech and consulting. Alicia earned her MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

Career development is built on the concept of holistic development as human being. In this talk, Alicia will cover how she breaks down the skillsets, social resources, emotional resilience needed to achieve meaningful career goals and lead a happy and fulfilled life. She will also share how she developer a high-level plan and granular-level trial-and-error test to develop those skills.

Harshal JoshiHarshal Joshi, Software Engineer, GroundTruth
Harshal is a Mobile Developer who is apart of GroundTruth’s WeatherBug team – a weather application acquired by GroundTruth in early 2017. In her current role, she is responsible for the development of iOS, Android, and React Native versions of the WeatherBug product. Harshal joined the WeatherBug team in February 2016 and remained with the company through the acquisition. Prior to moving to the United States in 2015, she worked in her home country of India for 7 years at various software development companies. Harshal has completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at Pune University in India. In her free time she likes to garden and grow vegetables on her small patio garden. She also enjoys cooking and crafting meals of different cuisines.

Everybody has a own story about who they are and what struggles they had to face to reach where they are now. Where you are could be something you are satisfied with, professionally or personally. For each person, that struggle is personal. In this talk, Harshal will share her struggles and what her strengths are then and now.
